Further EURIBOR Information

In 1999 the introduction of the single currency caused European banks to establish a new interbank reference rate within the Economic and Monetary Union - EURIBOR (Euro Interbank Offered Rate).Since then it has been the benchmark rate for  the large euro money market, sponsored by the EBF (European Banking Federation), who represent the interests of over 5000 European banks as well as the ACI (Financial Markets Association).

The banks quoting for EURIBOR are based on market criteria. To ensure that the diversity of the euro money market is reflected adequately, the banks chosen are of first class credit standing making EURIBOR a good representative benchmark.EURIBOR was first published on 30th December 1998 for value 4 January 1999 and is the rate at which euro interbank term deposits are offered between prime banks. This rate is published daily at 11:00am CET for spot value (T+2).
